One night I had a dream. This one felt very different, it was a lucid dream. I was lying on my back staring up into the night sky. My mind felt calm, alive and I could feel the cool air and the sweeping expansiveness of the sky and stars above me. A light began to appear in the sky and I knew it was a UFO. If the light came to shine on me, I would go with it this time. The moment the thought had entered my mind agreeing to go, I found myself upon this ‘ship’, that had no walls. It was more like a solid modern flying carpet.
With only the night sky lighting the scene, I saw a man sitting on some kind of chair next to me, with another man standing next to him. Even in the dim light, my first thought was that they were from India. The man in the chair had tendrils of dark hair about shoulder length and a hat or helmet of some kind. His face and body were rounded and gentle looking. He and the other man had bare arms and appeared to be wearing vests. However, it was their eyes that intrigued me. Eyes with no iris or pupil, they simply shimmered a subtle silver light into the night.
Instead of being afraid, I was exhilarated and amazed to be there. I kept saying, “I’m here! I’m really here!” I physically felt everything all around me. Unlike most dreams, as I spoke, I had control of my words. I looked at the man in charge and it felt as if my body was hovering below him, not sitting or standing, just there somehow. He never really looked at me. I found myself repeating, “I’m here! I’m really here!” He responded gently, “Yes”. He seemed unaffected by my exuberance as he gazed patiently into the night sky. He said something to a woman who appeared next to me. I hadn’t noticed her before, her voice and something about her body shape reminded me of a friend of mine who happens to be Hindu with both of her parents originally from India. The man said, “Give her what she needs to survive these times.” She went to get something and when she returned, it was just the two of us. At that moment and in my excitement, it occurred to me that I could ask a question, “What planet are you from?” I said. She said a word that sounded like, “Budtha”. It was the way she said it that was important. I reached my hand out to touch her arm and my hand began to tingle, surprising me greatly. When I told her what just happened, she lightheartedly laughed and said, “I know!” Then I woke up.
I was beyond curious about the planet she named and thought why Buddha? That couldn’t be right. Buddha is not a planet, so this must just be a dream. Plus, although I have a dear friend that happens to be Hindu in her faith, I have no knowledge of this spiritual belief system. I am more of a Christian mystic. Let it also be noted that I assumed these beings might be my definition of aliens at first, my friend corrected me to let me know they were considered Hindu deities. When I typed the word as it sounded to me, Budtha, what appeared on the computer was the word Budha/Budh. This is the Hindu word for the planet Mercury! Budha/Budh is also a deity and the son born of an affair between of the moon God Chandra and Tara (Brihaspati – or Jupiter’s wife). I couldn’t get this out of my head. Why am I having a lucid dream about Hindu deities? What really struck me was this sense from the man—or now I knew as a deity who was in charge, that he did not seem interested in me at all. I wondered why I was there and why would he want to help me if he seemed so distant?
During this time period of the lucid dream, I had also been taking an intuitive counseling course. We just happened to be studying the Akashic records at the time. I decided to do a meditation and enter records to help shed some light on this mystery. Upon entering the records, I was shown that this was really not about me at all. It was all about my beautiful Hindu friend. She has been going through a huge time of transformation in her life. I have been blessed to hold space for her while she births her new sense of being in this world. The message I received is that the Hindu deity gave me something in return for helping her. I thought, wow she must be pretty important! She is a healer, intuitive and a doctor and I think she will indeed be helping many people in the future, perhaps in a different way than she had in the past.
When I spoke to my friend, I couldn’t stop talking about this dream. I told her she must have an important role in helping people heal in the future. She was shocked for a couple of reasons. One being how I pronounced the word correctly as hearing it from the woman deity. It was unmistakably the name for the planet and the presiding diety of Mercury. She then told me that she has many important aspects with the planet Mercury in her astrological birth chart. The last strange coincidence seems to be that one of my friend’s ancestors may have helped to design some of the Hindu Vimanas or ancient Vedic era space ships. These are written about, but it seems unclear if there is evidence of them in modern times.
This lucid dream has added to my great respect for the Hindu culture and my friend. The interesting thing is that while I spoke to her about my dream of Hindu deities, she spoke of a dream that she had seeing the face of Jesus. We both feel such a connection with each other and yet have deep respect for our different spiritual beliefs. We both believe deeply in being guided by God in our lives. Having this dream showed me something sacred in the Hindu tradition. I felt very honored to have experienced that, even as a lucid dream experience, it felt real. One could argue that it was just a curious dream. It felt more than that. I may never see these deities again, but I will always remember them and feel grateful for this ethereal visitation. And I know now that my friend has some very powerful spiritual deities watching over her!
